Bio
Saanya Nanda is Montreal’s sweetheart and its edgiest comic — a true enfant gâté of comedy. She featured at Yuk Yuk’s just two years into starting stand-up and has performed in over five cities across North America this year alone. She’s the creator of Poop.fm, a limited-release podcast featuring timeless conversations, and The Heckling Show, an interactive live event with controlled chaos at its core.

Where in Montreal are you located?
I live in the Old Port.

What do you love about that neighborhood?
I like that it's touristy and everyone speaks English.

What’s your favourite art space in Montreal and why?
Centre Phi because of their subversive exhibits and music events.

Describe your art in your own words.
Domination/submission optimized through laughter.

What have you been working on recently?
Lately I’ve been focused on sharpening my hour and running The Heckling Show, which is somehow getting more unhinged and more structured at the same time. I’ve also been curating a few episodes of Poop.fm for a quiet drop — no promo, just something for people who already know where to look.

What inspired you to get into stand up comedy?
The love of paradox and the edge of knowledge, combined with sadism and masochism.

What inspires your joke writing?
I enjoy contradictions — they’re everywhere, and I love highlighting them on stage. The more hypocritical something is, the funnier it gets. Luckily, there’s always plenty of that around, so the well never runs dry.

Who is your favourite comedian right now?
Ye. He’s someone who bets it all, unapologetically, even while carrying some of the most heinous labels—despite being primarily a musician. I admire his fearless risk appetite and how he challenges expectations.

What is the best joke you’ve ever written?
My favorite joke is about ethical cannibalism through abortion takeout. It’s feminist, equally offensive to all sides, and probably the most Swiftian thing I’ve ever written.

What’s your favorite Montreal room and why?
My favourite Montreal room is quickly becoming The Heckling Show. It's the most engaging form of standup and it's rowdy and aggressive which is perfect for my style.
